{{:easy_to_read_logo.jpg?200|}}This page has an "Easy-to-Read" version at [[sleeperosunstable_Easy-to-Read|sleeperosunstable_Easy-to-Read]] ===== Sleeper OS "Vicky" ===== The code name for Sleeper OS's development distribution is **"Vicky"** ("Version In Continuous Kernel Yielding"), aliased to **"unstable"**. Most of the development work that is done in Sleeper OS is uploaded to this distribution. This distribution will never get released; instead, packages from it will propagate into testing and then into a real release. Please note that security updates for the **"unstable"** distribution are not managed by the security team. Hence, **"unstable"** does not get security updates in a timely manner. **"Vicky"** is subject to massive changes and in-place library updates. This can result in a very **"unstable"** system which contains packages that cannot be installed due to missing libraries, dependencies that cannot be fulfilled, etc. **Use it at your own risk!** ==== FAQ ==== === What do you mean with "Vicky" release? === **"Vicky"** is where Sleeper OS's team does their tests, and is marked clean for release by the SourceForge's FTP. === Should I use Vicky on my Work / Daily Driver / Workstation? === **Really? Think twice! No!** === Which "The Fairly OddParents" character is Vicky? === As with all Sleeper OS's release names so far (since V3), the **"Vicky"** distribution takes its name from a *The Fairly OddParents* character. Vicky is the babysitter teenager who makes Timmy Turner's life impossible and does nasty things, among others. It is sometimes a misnomer for **"Version In Continuous Kernel Yielding."** While other release codenames progress over time from testing to stable, **"Vicky"** is forever doomed to be **unstable**.
